逝世至今已經將近三十年，卡拉揚的指揮理念仍然影響著後世，也成為評判其他人的基準。從 1939 年直到 1989 年逝世為止，卡拉揚在 DG 留下的錄音總計在全球已經賣出超過兩億份。
從 1939 年的莫札特《魔笛》到 1989 年四月與維也納愛樂合作的布魯克納第七號交響曲，全套 330 張 CD，24 張 DVD，2 張藍光 CD，這一套限量專輯完整收錄卡拉揚在 DG 與笛卡的全部錄音，也是唱片音樂史上最宏偉的遺產。大部分的錄音都重現初版時的封面。
曲目有貝多芬、布拉姆斯、孟德爾頌、舒曼與柴可夫斯基的交響曲全集；巴爾托克、貝爾格、奧乃格、普羅高菲夫、理查‧史特勞斯、蕭斯塔高維契、史特拉溫汶斯基、荀伯格、魏本、馬勒等二十世紀鉅作；布拉姆斯、威爾第與莫札特的《安魂曲》、貝多芬《莊嚴彌撒》；與少女慕特膾炙人口的小提琴協奏曲錄音⋯⋯當然，還有 1987 年新年音樂會、在 DG 的完整十四部歌劇全曲錄音，在笛卡與帕瓦洛第、芙蕾妮合作的《波西米亞人》，以及原本由飛利浦發行的威爾第《法斯塔夫》。
