理查•史特勞斯是德國指揮家兼作曲家，其「唐吉訶德」交響詩係根據西班牙小說家塞凡提斯的小說譜成，從輕快甘甜的木管序奏，代表唐吉訶德的主題音樂的大提琴後，接連十段變奏，分別代表不同的冒險情節，而至充滿悲傷的終曲，整個架構在幻想和現實世界中。
「唐璜」為理查•史特勞斯第一部發表的交響詩作品，乃根據詩人Lenau的「唐璜」為標題。描寫唐璜是追求理想女性的多情男子雖和各樣女性交往，卻大失所望，陷入倦怠與絕望中，最後筋疲力竭在決鬥時，情願死在對方劍下。曲中燦爛激昂的第一主題，表示唐璜的慾念；獨奏的小提琴及長笛則代表女性的旋律；熱情第二主題則是唐璜追求女性的心情；第三主題則描繪唐璜溫暖的一面，而短小簡樸的複示部是悲哀的結局。
萊納+芝加哥交響樂團+Lewis Layton鐵三角組合，把樂曲呈現豐富華麗、燦爛輝煌的色彩。錄音動態強烈，細節清晰明亮，誠為發燒及名片。
