春之祭、火鳥、彼得洛希卡、三樂章交響曲、聖詩交響曲等 Sacre du Printemps, Firebird, Petrouchka, Symphony in 3 Movements, Symphony of Psalms, etc. 阿胥肯納吉、夏伊、杜特華，指揮 Vladimir Ashkenazy / Riccardo Chailly / Charles Dutoit 芭蕾舞劇是史特拉汶斯基賴以成名的立足點，他最早就是因為「煙火」這部作品的演出被俄羅斯芭蕾舞團總監狄亞基列夫相中，進而委託他為該舞團創作「火鳥」，因而在西方一夕成名。接著狄亞基列夫又陸續委託他創作了「彼得洛希卡」和「春之祭」，迅速地讓史特拉汶斯基在西方樂壇打響名號，成為重量級的作曲家。 「春之祭」後，史特拉汶斯基陸續創作了「婚禮」、「普欽奈拉」、「阿波羅」、「仙子之吻」、「牌局」、「舞蹈協奏曲」、「芭蕾場景」、「奧菲歐」、「艾岡」、「讚歌」等十部芭蕾舞劇，一直到一九五○年代都還有新的芭蕾舞作問世，不過創作的對象，已經從俄羅斯芭蕾舞團轉移到以巴蘭欽為首的紐約市立芭蕾舞團。巴蘭欽也出身自俄羅斯芭蕾舞團，只是他是在福爾金、尼金斯基後，最後一任的俄羅斯芭蕾舞團編舞家。該團解散後，他就轉往美國發展，落腳在紐約市立芭蕾舞團，並帶領該團成為世上最有資格稱為俄羅斯芭蕾舞團正統繼承人的舞團。史特拉汶斯基在二○年代後，主要的芭蕾舞作都是為該團創作。 這套錄音是以夏伊在數位時代所指揮灌錄的史特拉汶斯基芭蕾為主體，收錄的都是最新的錄音，除了上述十三首史氏重要的芭蕾舞作外，也收錄了一些原本不是為芭蕾舞劇創作、但後來被改編為芭蕾舞作的管弦小品。其中為鋼琴與管弦樂團合作的「樂章」和「奇想曲」是很少人知道的史氏協奏式作品。
