「Nouvelle Vague」是法語，有「新浪潮」之意，由兩個法國音樂製作人Marc Collin和Olivier Libaux所組成的音樂出版計畫。他們挑選出幾名法國美少女重新翻唱80年代的著名歌曲，再運用Bossa Nova、Lounge等聲線將後龐克、New Wave、Indie Pop加以重組，這些歌曲就變成相當容易入耳的歌曲，例如：the Lords Of the New Church《Dance With Me》、New Order《Blue Monday》、Billy Idol《Dancing With Myself》與the Smiths《Sweet And Tender Hooligan》等。
這些小少女大多沒聽過原曲，以Bossa Nova的方式，帶著法國嗓音的輕聲俏皮，重唱這些經典舊作。在詮釋上沒有刻板印象與原唱者的影子，沉重抑鬱的原曲轉化容易入耳的曲風，反而增添了不同的新鮮感與輕鬆氛圍。
The Nouvelle Vague project was born of Marc Collin and Olivier Libaux's desire to dust off and adapt new wave standards in a bossa nova style. Over the years, Nouvelle Vague has welcomed a host of singers on increasingly eclectic covers. In 2004, they released their first album, simply entitled Nouvelle Vague. The album featured covers of Depeche Mode, The Clash, The Cure, Joy Division and Dead Kennedys. A very British first album in spirit (as well as in the choice of groups), where the typically London new wave atmosphere predominates, but revised in a Caribbean version. To mark the band's 20th anniversary, we're proud to announce the reissue of this innovative album. Enriched with numerous bonuses, including a session on KCRW radio where the band's constant reinvention reaches it's apogee.
